La Canaria by Montsemar - beach bar and restaurant

Open 10am to 10pm, kitchen open from noon. Closed on a Wednesday.

Beach bar/restaurant on the promenade at Playa de Aquamarina ...... Just outside the beach access for the new Radisson Blu hotel. Opened in June 2012 we're told when the Radisson opened. Far better than the grotty looking offering that we walked past last year.

Staff very friendly and service was prompt. We didn't eat there, (even though I wanted to but was out-voted)

Large 'Estrella' draught beer eur3.30, Bottle soft drinks around eur 2.60. Fresh orange eur 3.50. Food looked good but again was hotel type pricing,... Margarita pizza eur 7.50, sandwiches ranged from euro 4.10 to 7.00. Seafood sounded good and the next table picked their own 'live' lobster.

Look out for 'Mousey' the resident black cat with red studded collar. Just don't stroke him past the middle of his back as we're told he had an accident and damaged his hind quarters, which makes him rather sensitive.

A welcome but pricey addition. Hopefully the Radisson chain will spend a few euros smartening up the beach area soon too.

Hi Jon,

Is this the bar at the end of the beach that faces Anfi (was white & blue) or the little one along the side ?

Hi Bakerboy

Yes, it's the bar that faces Anfi.    The little one along the side appears to have closed up and everything has moved to the new bar.    Whether the little one may open again as something else, I'm afraid I don't know.

When you say "the little one", if you mean the one with the yellow brollies which you pass before you get to the radisson, it was open last week when we were there, they just didn't have the tables on the promenade like they used to, they have about a dozen tables by the side of the kitchen.   I think its only open lunchtimes.   Had a lovely lunch there before we came home.

We ate there twice in last two weeks, we think it's fantastic! Fish of the day highly recommended, you choose your own and the vegetables are creative and very well presented. Good location to view Anfi at night.
